I personified a California Poppy. I adore California poppies. I take the time observe them in person when I find patches of them outside. For this artwork, I had the subject be in a flow-like pose. I've noticed these flowers flow well in the wind. Especially during the fall season, a small breeze makes this cup like flower bob and sway elegantly. It reminded me of dancers, specifically ballerinas. Hence, the pose resembles one of a dancer. For her outfit, I used the cup formation of the poppy to make her skirt. Around her waist, I've incorporated the poppy's anatomy: the torus, which is the reddish ring found underneath poppy petals. On my subject, I have it look like a hool-a-hoop. Finally, the subject glows because when I see poppies in person, their highly saturated orange to yellow hues are so hard to miss.
